AMN FEMALE CARRIER WROTE:
I am interested in the ALD/AMN trials regarding Lorenzo's Oil. My brother diead in 1976 aged 6 years of ALD. Both my mother and myself are carriers. In reading your Summer Update I am anxious to find out more about the effect of being a female carrier. Neither my mother nor me have ever been told of any possible effects in later life, so I would be grateful for any information on this. I also have a daughter aged 11yrs. She has not been tested yet to see if she is a carrier. I have a son aged 3 years who is clear of the disease but I have had 4 pregnancies which have been terminated as the males have all had the ALD gene. Carrying this gene has had a profound effect on our family.
