HELPING TO WIN THIS RACE AGAINST TIME
Amanda Dillion was joined by her father, Dave Jones and brother in law, Andrew Stout to run in this year's Bupa Great Manchester 10k. Amanda was inspired by the recent Granada news story on Kier Platt and the BBC NW News coverage of Luke Carthy and his family - both MLD affected boys. Amanda has chosen to raise funds for the MLD trial.
They ran the full marathon, despite the pouring rain and all made it across the finish line in syle, thanks to Karl Dillon (Amanda's husband) and RADSHEEP for designing their custom running vests (see pic). With help from Amanda's family and friends and co-workers of the Cooperative Bank in Stockport: £1000.00 were raised for the MLD Trial. Amanda, Karl and Andrew all got to meet both Keir Platt and Luke Carthy (and their families) when they presented the cheque to The Myelin Project this summer. Amanda and her brother in law, Andrew are pictured with Keir and Luke in Stockport.
But, the Dillon family difference has not stopped there. Recently, through work that RADSHEEP was doing for local Manchester morning radio show on Galaxy 102 Manchester: Karl was able to promote The Myelin Project's cause and in return, Galaxy 102's morning show, Wes@breakfast, decided to choose The Myelin Project as their choice of charity for their recent fundraiser, Galaxy Bowls. See www.galaxymanchester.co.uk for more information or click here for pictures of the event. To date, over £1600.00 has been raised.
On Friday, September 1st, Amanda has arranged for a Myelin Project information booth to be set up during this day of fundraising at her work, The Cooperative Financial Services in Manchester. Amanda and her co-workers will be helping to raise even more vital funds for the upcoming MLD Trial.
